Pick the paint color last
Often people want to paint before they move in, however there are 1000’s of different colours and shades. The way paint looks can vary from house to house and change upon the way the room is lit.
Arranging your furniture
Try not to over crowd your furniture. Give yourself plenty of room to walk around. You don’t need to fill up all the space in a room. Spend your budget on few but nicer pieces.
Hang artwork at the right height
Galleries and museums hang artwork so that the midline of each piece is 57 inches to 60 inches from the floor. (The average human eye level is 57 inches.) And you should do the same.
Resist the urge to be too theme-y
Make the space your own and try not to stick totally to one cookie cutter theme.
Create a focal point
This is a favourite of ours. Your focal point could be anything, a special hood range, a mantel or a art piece.
Add layers of lighting
In this kitchen seating area, the backsplash is lit, the artwork is highlighted and the cabinet interiors are filled with light. One central lighting fixture would not have had nearly the same dramatic result.
